1st Place in SIH

"Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success." is one of the famous quotes of Swami Vivekananda. As a preliminary step to implement this in real life, the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell India, conducts Smart India Hackathon (SIH),a  nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve the pressing problems of the government, ministries, departments, industries and other organisations.

SIH is conducted every year since 2017 in two formats i.e. SIH Software and SIH Hardware Editions for higher education students. More than 15,000 students participated in the grand finale from across 75 centers and students from over 2900 schools and 2200 Higher Education Institutions tackled 476 problem statements from across 53 Union Ministries in the finale.

Among them, the "RESCUE SQAUD" of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Velammal Engineering College, emerged out as the WINNER of the Grand Finale in SIH Software Edition, with  a cash prize of ONE LAKH rupees. This proud moment of our college took place on 26th of August 2022, in Sona College of Technology. Our students were on cloud nine after being regarded as the winners of the grand finale.

Grand Prize in HeroCoLabs Xdrags Game Development Challenge

DATE: 30th Jan 2022

A game development competition hosted by HeroMotoCorp where the participants had to develop a drag racing game with the features specified by the organizers. It was an online hackathon consisting of two rounds: the ideation round and the prototype. Each round lasted a month and we were allowed to make a submission for the entire duration of the round.

The competition aimed to develop a drag racing game featuring a particular model of the motorcycle made by Hero MotoCorp, in particular the Xtreme 160R. The submission requirement for each round was a PowerPoint presentation describing the game for the ideation round and a PPT as well as a demo video showing the actual prototype with in-game graphics and gameplay.

For my submission, I developed a game using Unreal Engine 4 with graphical assets developed using Blender. Furthermore, I defined game logic using blueprints, a visual scripting language as opposed to C++ as it can be implemented and compiled in a short period.
